The Reynolda Campus will be without electrical power due to a scheduled shutdown of the nearby Cherry Street electrical substation by Duke Power for much of the day on Sunday, December 30, 2012. The primary campus outage will begin just after 1 pm and is projected to last until 4 pm or later. Selected buildings are planned for longer outages starting after 10 am and lasting until 5 pm or later.
The areas affected include the Reynolda Campus – bordered by Reynolda Road, Polo Road and University Parkway – and includes the University Corporate Center.
We have made coordinated with all of the departments that we believe to be the most likely impacted but ask that each individual take steps before they leave campus for the holidays to minimize risk to their electrical equipment:
- Shut down any computers or electronics that will not be used during the holidays. If possible, unplug electronics or turn off any power strip to which they are connected.
- Perform your normal backup routine on your computer or any data intensive devices just in case a computer or electronic device were to fail to restart.
We greatly appreciate the feedback and cooperation we have received through this planning process. If you have concerns you feel may not have been addressed, please make sure the following individuals are made aware of them as soon as possible.
