Horticulture

The Horticulture Team is responsible for all flower and shrub and most tree planting on campus. Also responsible for mulching, pruning, and applying pesticides. In addition, we design, install, and maintain most landscaped areas on campus. Seasonal activities include planting, watering, pruning, and applying herbicides during the warm months, and mulching, leaf removal, installing new landscapes, and assiting with snow and ice removal during the winter months.
The Horticulture Department also administers the campus “Adopt a Space” program whereby groups of students (typically a fraternity or sorority) adopt a given area of campus and assume responsibility for cleaning up that area at least two times per year. In addition, the Horticulture Dept. also assists with campus events such as DESK, Homecoming bonfire, Graduation exercises, and freshman move in.
