The Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling (OWRR) is responsible for coordinating recycling activities and waste pickups throughout campus. The Office also focuses on waste reduction strategies and education. The OWRR works closely with the various departments, staff, and students to create new waste reduction and recycling initiatives on campus. In addition to those initiatives, OWRR’s Surplus Property Program re-purposes items on campus and facilitates the recycling of WFU’s Technotrash.

Wake Forest University was proudly awarded the 2011 Special Environmental Award given by the County Commissioners and the Environmental Affairs Board of Forsyth County for Wake Forest University’s Waste Reduction Efforts – diverting 44.6% of waste from the landfill in 2010.
