Safety Training

Wake Forest University is now requiring all office/administrative employees to complete online safety training. The goal is to create a more safe and healthy workplace by educating faculty and staff on essential safety practices. These trainings—Emergency and Fire Preparedness, Fire Extinguisher Use, Office Ergonomics, and Preventing Slips, Trips, and Falls—help employees recognize and respond appropriately to common hazards, reduce risks of injury, and comply with OSHA mandates for a workplace free from recognized hazards. This proactive approach supports the university’s commitment to protecting its community by promoting awareness, preparedness, and accident prevention on campus. In June, 1,589 faculty/staff/student workers were added to this system. As of October, 76% completed all required modules.

Confined Space

The Confined Space Entry program at Wake Forest University is designed to protect employees and contractors by ensuring that proper safety procedures are in place before anyone enters areas classified as confined spaces, such as tunnels or utility vaults. The program requires that no one may enter a confined space on campus without first receiving a permit, which is issued only after thorough hazard evaluation and the implementation of all necessary precautions. Confined spaces often pose serious risks, such as hazardous atmospheres or restricted access, and specialized training and oversight significantly reduce the chances of accidents, injuries, or fatalities for anyone working in these environments.
