Scope of Work & Responsibilities

Campus Planning

Campus Planning collaborates with students, faculty, staff, and the community to promote smart growth and informed decision-making. Campus Planning ensures that information about the University’s history, current initiatives, and future plans for campus development is accessible and well-documented. Campus Planning involves a variety of plans and studies that meet both long-term and short-term needs, covering everything from campus-wide developments to individual building assessments.

Wake Forest Properties

Joining facilities in 2024 Wake Forest Properties oversees real estate functions on behalf of the University.  Wake Forest Properties (WFP) manages and leases approximately 1 million square feet of University owned office, retail, and residential properties.  WFP oversees the University’s strategic acquisition and disposition of real property. WFP evaluates potential gift properties prior to University acceptance and then oversee management, acquisition and disposition of the properties.  Wake Forest Properties also oversees leasing off-campus properties for University departments when needed.  As the University’s real estate specialists, WFP is a resource for constituents across campus in a wide range of real estate related matters.

Space Management

Space Management assists campus partners and capital projects with space allocations by identifying immediate and long-term needs and opportunities, developing and implementing guidelines, and ensuring data systems integrity. Space Management focuses on space data, standards, programming, and management, providing a comprehensive planning framework aligned to University priorities.

Buildings, Space and Archives

Buildings, Space and Archives maintain all of the University’s building plans and associated data. This includes the building floor plans, campus site plans, the Archibus space database as well as the archive of historical building data. Buildings, Space and Archives also assists our campus partners and outside vendors in accessing and navigating the University’s comprehensive repository of space and building information.

Buildings, Space and Archives Project Collaboration

The installation of new garden planter boxes at Reynolda Gardens was a successful collaboration, with the Space Planning team playing a crucial role. In-house construction’s original design idea along with Space Planning’s planning and measurements proved invaluable, enabling the WFU Facilities’ in-house construction team to build and install the planters. The team’s contributions ensured the project’s success and fulfilled Reynolda Gardens’ need for updated garden arrangements.

In Memory of Patrick “Pat” Johnston
