Facilities Systems

Powering Data-Driven Decisions

The Facilities Real Estate and Planning Business Operations team has recently implemented a cutting-edge, fully managed SaaS platform. This offers a unified environment encompassing data warehousing, data lakes, data engineering, data science, application development, and secure real-time data sharing. Our team has leveraged this platform’s powerful data-sharing capabilities to develop sophisticated dashboards. These dashboards draw data from pre-selected tables within our work order system, providing key insights into our operations.

Wake Forest University has been fortunate to participate in a beta testing phase in conjunction with our vendor of this software. This partnership has allowed us to provide valuable feedback, influencing the platform’s development and ensuring it meets our specific needs. By identifying areas for improvement and suggesting new features, we’ve helped shape the product into a more effective tool for higher education institutions.

The real-time data insights and dashboards generated empower key decision-makers with the information they need to drive continuous improvement within our Facilities Real Estate and Planning operations.

Here is an example of a created Dashboard. This Dashboard will refresh the data according to a specified schedule and provide up-to-date metric information allowing real-time decision-making tools at our fingertips.

Thermal Imaging Drone Added to Facilities, Real Estate, and Planning

Enhancing our capabilities, Facilities, Real Estate and Planning now utilizes a thermal imaging drone. This technology allows us to capture both heat signatures and standard aerial photography, providing valuable before-and-after perspectives on projects. The drone’s unique vantage point offers a comprehensive overview of campus initiatives, improving project documentation and analysis.
