CAMPUS UPDATES
Winners of the exclusive reserved parking and free dining have been notified!
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Space Utilization Study Campus Survey! The response rate was very encouraging, and the information yielded from the survey will provide SmithGroup with valuable wide-level engagement to round out the data gathering efforts of the first phase of the project. Compilation of the results is underway, and findings will be posted on this site once they are available.
The project now heads into the very critical ‘Explore’ phase of the Space Utilization Study where, after having spent the first phase gathering data and information, efforts will pivot toward an analysis of space needs that will eventually inform scenario development.
SmithGroup will bring their Space Needs analysis to the Steering Committee for review and discussion, upon which targeted areas of additional analysis and drilldown may be identified. The ‘Explore’ phase will culminate with an in-person Campus Workshop where scenarios and recommendations will be examined. Workshop dates are currently TBD.
In the meantime, for those who wish to submit feedback to the project team please feel free to do so by clicking the button below.
Since October 2021 SmithGroup has been skillfully guiding WFU through the first phase of this important study, where the goal has been to listen and learn, and to truly understand how WFU is positioned today and for the future.
In the first phase of the Facility Utilization Study, a significant amount of information and data was gathered. Using Fall 2021 as a snapshot in time, key data related to space use, course activity, enrollment, and personnel have been collected and is in the process of being analyzed. The initial analysis will document existing space use and distribution, quantify instructional space utilization, and benchmark institutional peers.
To support the quantitative analysis, SmithGroup engaged with over 25 individuals or small groups at Wake Forest. The listening sessions provided insight on lessons learned thus far from the COVID-19 pandemic as well as physical needs required to support the University’s mission.
The entire campus community will soon have an opportunity to engage and provide input on the physical campus experience. During the week of February 7, a campus survey will be launched for all students, faculty, and staff. This interactive survey will seek your opinions about the broad campus environment.
As the project progresses, engagement will continue to be a critical input to the process. The Explore phase is expected to prompt additional engagement with campus community members and will be driven by analysis, observation, and other inputs.
Space Utilization Study Survey: Survey results will take several days to compile, and we will post the results here once they’re available. Winners of the exclusive reserved parking and free dining will be notified shortly.
Campus Workshop: The ‘Explore’ phase will culminate with an in-person Campus Workshop where scenarios and recommendations will be examined (Workshop dates TBD).
